Shortfilm 40%
Shortfilm 40%
40% is a short film directed by Iván Preuss that explores alcoholism, guilt, and the emotional weight of addiction. As VFX Lead and Supervisor, I worked closely with the director and producer to define the visual approach, oversee the VFX direction, and ensure every element supported the story consistently from early development to final delivery.

Worked closely with the director and producer during the reference-gathering stage to define the visual direction of the project. This process helped establish the look and feel for the 3D sequences, motion graphics, and overall VFX treatment while keeping every decision aligned with the film’s storytelling.

Developed the visual language for the 3D scenes and created motion graphics based on tracked percentage values attached to the characters. The animations gradually filled up like liquid inside a bottle, reinforcing the alcohol-related narrative through a visual system integrated directly into the scenes.

Led and supervised the VFX work throughout the short film, overseeing both creative and technical execution. This included tracking, compositing, motion graphics, 3D integration, and extensive clean-up work across multiple shots, removing elements such as trash bins, electrical outlets, lens marks, tattoos, and unwanted wall details while preserving the natural look of the footage. I was working in 23 shots.

Conclusion
Conclusion
Leading the VFX process from early visual development through final execution was an incredibly valuable experience. The project allowed me to combine supervision, problem-solving, compositing, motion design, and 3D work while collaborating closely with the director and producer to support the story visually.
